Self Reliance

I must have slept my way through home-ec. I don't think I know half the skills that it takes to be a descent housewife. My poor mother. She raised me well, but I was probably oblivious to the wonderful example that she was. If only I was half the homemaker she is.

I can't sew, stay on top of my blogging, or even preserve food at it's finest stage to last throughout the year.

All of this emotion has been triggered mostly due to the fact that I missed enrichment night. The theme you ask? Bottling Salsa.

How am I ever going to call myself a descent housewife if I don't even have the slightest idea of how to bottle food?

This fear of me falling through the cracks is what lead me to have my wonderful mother teach me how to bottle...

PEACHES!!!

We blanched and peeled, sliced and diced, bottled and enjoyed the fruits of our labor.

Now if I can only remember come harvest time next year....

Thanks mom, for sharing your mean canning skills! Love you!

I can't tell you how often I feel the same way. I guess we learn little by little. I always ask myself why the heck didn't I learn this stuff when I was younger. Moms are the greatest! Looks like you're picking it up quickly. I'll know who to call when I run out of food! haha

Okay, so I seriously know what you mean. But, you are busy being a fabulous teacher to children like mine who just loves you and still talks about you. = )

However, I think the best thing a wife can do is smile at her husband just because...

btw - those peaches look delicious.

I right there with you Christie! I'm done a small number of canning, but I can't even get myself to have the desire to learn to sew! I've been thinking about you because my sister wrote a post about the schools out in Maryland and the problems she has encounter with them. Anyway this was someone's comment to her post:

"So sorry about that! I wish I had some advice, but I really don't. Just get back here to Utah QUICK! :) And, when you get here, request that Easton be put in Mrs. Lamb's class. She is seriously the BEST teacher I think I've ever witnessed in my entire life!"

I just thought you would like to know that your hard work and kindness doesn't go unnoticed! Hope you're doing well!
