i wish...

...that EVERY outfit came in tall not just a few to appease us amazon woman.... yes that includes baby g's clothing too.  i'm tired of shopping online.  have you seen what they offer us tall ladies??? they should be ashamed.

...that my kindergartners were more behaved...partially my fault and perhaps the parents (did i just say that?)

....that i had the crafty ability to decorate my house like the inside of my better homes and garden magizine.   my lover says i'm indecisive.  perhaps that's why i  don't buy anything to decorate my house because i don't know how to mix and mingle the several styles i like.  any takers?  i'm thinking of writing HGTV and having someone else do it for me.  but where's the fun in that?

....i had more energy after a day of work.  ya it's half day i know but it's a fight not to take a nap when G goes down.

....that scottie was done with the CPA.  who knows??  he may just be!  we're just waiting to hear the results.....like any second now.

....that it was fall/winter ALL year...yep.  ya heard me right.

....that my hair would GROW!!!! anyone who knows me can tell you I've been growing it out for the last two years.  and yep it's still the same length it was when i started.  and that includes a pregnancy.

.... my sisters (amers and megs) lived within driving distance.    i miss them.

....my mama never had another pain in her life.  she's tough cookie that lady!

....that little G just for one second would change her mind about the snuggling issue.  i'd give anything for a good snuggle right about now.

....i was an amazing photographer.   you're welcome to teach me.  don't worry i'm not going to start up my own business or anything.  just want to capture "those" moments

....that people weren't so blunt.  did you really not think that one through?

.... that i had Zuppas for dinner every night.  nuts about berries salad with a side of wisconsin cauliflower soup to be exact.  yum

....that gabbers would poop (okay we might have a little vacation constipation issue going on here....minus the vacation)

...that scottie got home from work the same time i did :-)

....ah yes.  i wish i was rich hehe (couldn't resist)

guess it's just one of those days...sigh

i love...

how you play peek a boo with me and daddy through your crib.

how you never liked baby food and went straight for the REAL food

how you snort when you giggle too much

how you smell after a bath and everywhere in between

how you can me the happiest lady on earth after a tough day with kindergarteners

how you are the loudest baby at church....not because you are being a stinker, but because you babble and squeal and laugh at everything and anything

how you dance and boogie when you are lying on your back

how you roll everywhere to get what you want.  crawling is so last year.

how your daddy and i fight over who gets to give you a bath, and lotion you up, and get you dressed....and tuck you in.

how happy you always are.  you spoil me rotten.  seriously.

how you have your mamas toes and you are always curling them up under your feet.  or spreading them out like a fan.

how you have an obsession with straws, lemons the cat and every light fixture/ceiling fan in the house.

that you look just like your daddy but have a little bit of me in there somewhere

that whenever i wipe your face with a wet wipe, you try with all your might to eat it.

it when we are both sporting our skinny jeans

how you wave both hands uncontrollably

how you smile with your eyes

that you make me want to have lots of babies.  you're just that good

how EVERYTHING goes in the mouth

your toothy grin

your juicy lips

your big brown tootsie roll eyes

your dimples

and

how you love me too....i can tell.

hormonal anxiety

Last night was quite a roller coaster. Let me explain My handsome husband Scottie is getting quite anxious for this little one of ours to arrive. So throughout the past few days he is always texting me at work asking "How are you feeling?" "Any contractions", etc. Last night he was really wanting to get things going because he just couldn't wait till Tuesday. He has taken me to eat spicy food, laughed with me while I did lunges and walked fifty flights of stairs, hung out with me while I walked on the treadmill etc. etc. etc.... and still nothing.

Well, last night while I was cooking up a scrumptious din din, I was having a few contractions here and there (like always) but they weren't consistent or getting worse or closer together. Nothing to worry about, I kept telling myself. So when I told Scottie that I felt pretty crappy, he asked me if he should go get the car seat ready and grab the hospital bag haha. I think he was just so excited that he couldn't take it anymore and from that point on he kept trying to get me to try new things to get our baby girl here. Me on the other hand was not having it. I think the realization of it all had finally hit me. Nine months is a long time but last night it all came crashing down. After a while he realized how nervous I had gotten about the whole transition of prego to mamo, ANNNND all the scary things of getting to that point (aka: contractions getting worse, labor, pushing, and the the whole recovery and zero sleep I will soon be getting). Just as he put his arm around me I started bawling!!! Unfortunately, Scottie was just being sweet and getting excited about his baby girl, but I on the other hand had a hormonal, terrifying, breakdown!

Scott laughs at me because he knows how frightened I am about pain or the fear of the unknown. I DO NOT like being in pain. In fact when I know it's coming, it's as if everything in my body shuts down. So you can understand what I mean, I will give you a little flash back....

About six years ago I got really sick and I found out that I had a blood disease that runs in my family. My dad, sister, grandma, uncle, and great grandpa all have the same blood disease known as Spherocitosis. After many doctors visits, we found out that I would have to undergo surgery to remove my spleen, gall baldder, & appendix. Due to the fact that my spleen was 8 lbs and the size of a small loaf of bread, I have a massive scar down the middle of my stomach so they could get it out. After returning home from the hospital my stomach hurt where my incision was. I figured it hurt because well, hello?? I had just been sliced down the middle and was missing three organs. No wonder it hurt? Well the only thing that made it feel better was to kind of hold my incision together and lean over. For some reason it offered relief.... until I noticed that my shirt was really wet. We called the doctor and he had us come in to have it checked out. From just looking at my incision he could tell that I needed to have it re-opened so he popped the top few stitches out like popcorn, while a 1/2 cup of puss came draining out. I had developed a staph infection. Sweet. He then told me that I would have to pack it with three feet of gauze twice a day using a long q-tip to reach to the bottom of my outrageously sore wound to prevent it from closing up while I doped up on antibiotics......for the next two months. Needless to say that he sent a home nurse to do it for me so I could understand the correct way to do it. I think her name was Betsy or something and even though she was really sweet she was NOT my favorite person. She would usually call about a 1/2 hour before she arrived to stuff my like a turkey and instantly I would have panic attacks because it hurt sooooooo bad. Due to my overwhelming reaction to the nurse's torture methods I was given a Valium to calm me down. This made life a little easier but those were probably the worst two months of my life. Hands down.

Now back to my story. As I was freaking out I resorted back to my old ways but this time I couldn't exactly pop in a Valium. I started taking deep breaths and blowing them out slowly. In order to slow down my breathing I do this weird thing with blowing my lips like a motor boat. That's when Scottie told me to just let it all out and indeed, I LET IT ALL OUT!! My small tears turned completely to loud sobs which turned into what I think was laughing and crying at the same time because I knew I was being ridiculous, but really I was scared to death. Poor Scottie didn't know what to do? I probably scared the crap out of him! He is now, I am sure, thinking of telling the doctor to knock me out and wake me up when the baby is here. I eventually calmed down after about 45 minutes and a whole roll of toilet paper. Hopefully it will be a smooth process and all will go well. I just have to remember that I'm not going through all of it with nothing in the end. I will eventually be holding my little girl in my arms which I am sure will make it all worth it. Until then I DO NOT want to hear anymore horror stories about labor & delivery.

What Would You Do??

This weekend Scottie and I went to buy a bunch of stuff that we needed before the little lamb arrives! I can't believe I have only 35 days left or 5 weeks! Time is a flying and that means I must be getting busy! So off we went to Target and bought a...

pack and play
changing pad and changing pad cover
sheets
swing
bath basin
blankets
mirror for the back seat so I can see my little lamb at all times
little gadgets such as a thermometer, nose sucker, etc.
bouncer
and our beloved baby monitor.

Oh yes, folks we are quite excited about this little invention. I will be able to see my little girl at all times and I'll be able to know if she's hungry, if her binkie fell out, be able to see her breathing, etc. all because of the Summer Slim & Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor.

After we wheeled our two carts of lute up to the check stand, we cashed in and used our gift cards making our purchase of what we thought would be a lot more a not so bad $345.00 grand total. Then we headed over to Babies R Us to grab a few other things that Target didn't have and found that our fantastic baby monitor was on sale for yes, $50.oo less! We were ecstatic and we even more excited that we were going to get it for additional 10% off after the sale price because it was on our registry. We decided to get it and then head back to Target to return the other monitor and get our money back. We were very excited since that would make our first purchase a lot less and our wallets a little fuller. Well, when we walked up to the customer service counter, the teenage boy continued to tell me that we couldn't take it back because it wasn't on the receipt??? Ummmm, HELLO??? We just bought everything about 30 minutes ago on this receipt, I knew it should be on that receipt. After being a little puzzled, we decided to go home with two monitors in hand. Then we started backtracking. That's when I wondered if I had even put the monitor on the counter to pay for it. We did have a lot of other things that we left in the cart because they were too big so I thought maybe it was underneath. That's when my little mind remembered the guy taking the security device off it and asking us when we were due. We told him January 3rd and we was excited because his birthday was on the 4th! I KNEW that I didn't leave it in the cart. Case solved. The cashier took the security device off, but didn't ring it up. Then our guilty conscience kicked in and we knew we had to return it. So we walked back into the store and explained what had happened to the two teenage boys behind the counter. They were shocked that we would even return it!!! It felt so weird just handing it over and walking away. I, for some reason thought that streamers should come down from the ceiling and some TV host would come out with a big check from "What Would You Do?" and reward us for our good acts of honesty. but no. We handed the monitor over like I was handing someone a tissue.
So much for getting our money back. No wonder why I thought that we were getting a TON of baby stuff for such a little price! The most expensive item wasn't even rung up! We just knew that if we had kept it that we would feel guilty every time we looked at our baby girl in that monitor. All I can say is, she better be a little angel since we are little honest parents to be. haha.

Best of Luck

The other day I was out and about getting things ready for school. I had to stop by my mamas house and while I was there she asked if I could run to the store for her. I of course don't mind running errands for my sweet mom who does so much for me so I willingly agreed. Well one thing I always admire when I go to my parents house is my former car. When I was single and stupid, I spontaneously bought an Acura TSX and LOOOOOOOOVED it. Well since I'm now married to an accountant, he explained to me that my car payment was too much for a newlywed couple to bare if we wanted to ever buy a house. So we sold it to my fabulous parents who wanted a run-around car. Hence the reason I dream of driving it when I visit. Well back to my story.....My mom asked me to run an errand and so I decided that I should splurge and relive my single days in the Acura. haha. So off I went on my merry way and ran the errand for my lovely mother. As I was about to back out of my parking spot, I being an expectant mother, turned to see if anyone was behind me. Of course there was this big black Toyota Sequoia that was driving down the lane looking for a place to park. After it passed I slowly backed out and as I was just about to put the car into drive to be on my merry way, I could see that this black sequoia decided that she would reverse to park in the spot she had driven past. I could see her barreling my way so I laid on my horn hopping she would clue in but apparently that didn't work until she crunched into the back of my former beautiful Acura......which is now owned by myparents.
It of course wasn't my fault but I was very annoyed at the Sequoia driver and how she tried to make it sound like I was the careless driver??? Hello? I would look behind me before I barrel down the lane going the wrong way and oh, I would buckle my kids in their seats so they weren't dancing around in the car, unlike you lady?? So tell me? Who do you think is responsible now? Anyway moving on....
Today (five days after the accident) my handsome husband was backing out of the Walmart parking lot when another careless driver who didn't find it important to look before backing out, ran into my husband.....who was driving my car.

After we cleared up that whole mess I finally made it out to the school where I mold young minds, and upon my arrival and excitment to finally be there and get lots done, I plug in my computer and hit the power button. I was very dissapointed when nothing happened. I thought maybe it was my cord so I borrowed one from another teacher hoping that it would work in this oh so busy time of year, and much to my surprise it didn't. Then I tried another outlet. Once again nothing. I was about to cry!! How on earth could my computer fail me now!! Not at this time of year! Anytime but now! Unfortunatly my school computer is shot and the tech guy won't be out till Wednesday. So until then I will be digging through the files in the back of my brain trying to recreate everything I have made over the past four years of teaching. I sure hope that we're on the up an up now. Wish me luck.

5:00 am

Since I've been prego, I wake up what seems to be every morning (yes lovers I'm speaking in absolutes haha) with all sorts of crazy dreams to re-tell to Scott. Let me tell you CRAZY!! I know it all has to do with this bundle of joy that is growing inside me but maybe our little one is prepping me for when he/she finally arrives. Tonight (yes I will say tonight because I should be sleeping even though it's almost morning) I was dreaming that I was shopping with my mama and for some reason I picked up a magazine and put it to my ear.....then out of nowhere there came this HUGE spider/ant/wasp flying around me and landed on my face. Well of course I jumped right out of bed and even woke Scottie up. I was relieved to know it was just a dream but then when I tried to go back to sleep I was bored of sleep and.......I was hungry....VERY HUNGRY. So here I am enjoying my watermelon, sliced apple and string cheese. At least it's a healthy middle of the night snack right?

Some symptoms of being prego that I have felt so far...
* A good three weeks of being tired....very tired but now we are good to go!
* A little feisty-ness/don't mess with me attitude (sorry lovers)
* Hunger like to other!!! I swear I eat every ten minutes
* I hate gum.....I only chew a 1/2 or a 1/4 of a piece and then end up spitting it out because it's too strong for my taste
* My Honey Nut Cheerios taste a little too sweet for my liking
* A few freak out moments when it really hits me that I'm going to be a mama!!
* A few more melt downs due to the stress of planning girls camp right before school starts.
* Oh, and did I mention crazy dreams?

So far I feel great. I have a hard time thinking that I'm prego because I'm not showing yet and I for the most part feel the same except for the few things listed above. I know I am one lucky girl to have had a smooth ride (so far) and hope that it continues this way. I think Heavenly Father must think I'm a wus so he didn't give me all those other joys of being pregnant.....he just knows I wouldn't be able to handle it I guess. haha anyway, I'm going back to bed so I can enjoy my last few months of sleep! I'll post picture soon! Night....or should I say good morning? hmmm

Another Dryer Surprise.....

This morning I woke up to a strange sound. It sounded as if the sprinklers were hitting the rain gutter outside. After a while I drifted off to sleep again. When I woke up, I heard it again? This time I counted how many seconds there were in between. I counted 5 then 10 then 7. Strange I thought, because now it wasn't consistent. When I went into the bathroom I heard it again....but this time it was in the wall that is between the bathroom and laundry room. I decided that we may have a our first mouse. As I slowly opened the door to the laundry room I could see my cat just waiting to pounce and I knew right away I was right!!! But where??? I could hear it scratching and that's when I realized that it was in the dryer hose. Crap!!! Of course Scott wasn't home so I was left to fend for myself. I ran downstairs to tell Scott's family who were visiting. Thank goodness for my awesome nephew Justin or I don't know what I would have done.

We ran upstairs to diagnose the problem. We were totally confused as to how in the world the mouse had gotten into the dryer hose in the first place. First of all the dryer vent to the outside is at least twenty feet high. Second of all I know mice can squeeze in little crevices but come on!!! This vent was pretty little!! I was baffled. We decided that we would pull the hose out of the wall and put the opening in the garbage can. So here we are, I'm sitting on top of the washer and Justin has the oven mit on his hand ready to cover the hose to throw him into the garbage can. I shut the laundry room door and shoved a towel into the crack so the little sucker couldn't escape. When we were ready, Justin pulls off the hose and we get our first glipe of the creature in the dryer hose. It's not in the hose but stuck in opening in the wall. All I hear is Justin shouting "It's got huge black claws!!!" So now I'm thinking.....Crap we have a RAT!!! At this point Justin grabs the garbage can ready for the capture when all of a sudden, not a mouse but a BIRD flys out!!! It's flying all around and I'm screaming my head off thinking it's a flying rat slash bat or something? I grab the door and it flys out straight for the window and keeps running into it looking for an escape. Finally as it makes its way downstairs Scott walks in the door and opens the door and window so it can fly out. Don't ask me how he got in but I think he's learned his lesson.

Here is our little friend frantically trying to escape...

Now downstairs, our little friend is sitting on the window sill...

Scottie to the rescue...

Wow it was a crazy morning!

The Case of the Missing Keys...

A few weeks ago, my wonderful school secretary, the fabulous Kristy Tyson called and asked me if I would come and speak to her young women at girls camp. I agreed and up I went to Heber Valley Camp. It went great and it was a lot of fun and I was glad to have it over with because it had been stressing me out. When I got home I was so excited to just sit and do nothing because I was not longer stressed about this event. The second I got home I relaxed and didn't do anything but read a good book and put my feet up. Well the next day I went to find my keys and couldn't find them. The first thing I do when I can't find my keys is blame Scottie. Why? Well lets just say that that boy and keys go together like oil and water. He is always losing my keys. For example, back during the school year when I was teaching, if I happened to be running later than usual, people would always say "Did Scott lose your keys again???" So as you can see he has a reputation for losing my keys....wallet.....glasses......computer cords, etc. The next day, which is today, my husband left to study for the CPA exam and I was to go to the bank to get checks (since we are completely out) so we could pay the landscapers. As I continued the search for the missing keys, I came up empty. I looked.....
in every article of clothing Scottie and I own
In every drawer in the kitchen, family room, bedroom
in the fridge
under the couch
under the bed
under the car
in the car
under the couch cushions
in the pantry
in the freezer
in my purse (checked inside and out)
in the garage
in my bathroom
in the laundry room

You name it! I have looked everywhere! I only have one set of keys and the car is in the garage. I haven't driven it since the day I went up to Heber, so I know they have got to be somewhere!!! So while, I was looking for my keys I began to get stressed because the landscapers were almost done with our yard and they needed to be paid! Luckily I found one, scraggly little check in my old purse but the problem was I needed not one check but two checks!!! So here I am chatting on line with Scottie, because he doesn't get service in the bottom of the BYU library. I asked him if for some odd chance he would have them in his backpack. Of course he says no and says "I guess you could walk to the bank?" I of course laugh because there is no way I am going to walk to the bank. I continued my search and even asked my mom if for some reason they would be at her house? Again I was left without keys and my landscapers were wrapping up. I called my sister in law down the road to see if she could take me but she was in the middle of running a half marathon (Go SINI!) then I asked if my friend Joy wanted to walk. her other car broke down and her husband had the car so I figured I might as well have some company. Of course she had just left five minutes ago, IN HER CAR, to visit her old neighbors! I began thinking of other options. I felt too dumb to call my busy neighbors who all have several kids "Hey do you mind rounding up your kids, buckling them all in and taking me to the bank??" haha I don't think so? I could ride by bike which has a flat, I could put on my running gear and make a run for it...purse in hand, or I could just walk. So, I swallowed my pride, grabbed my purse and started the long walk to the bank. I was just starting to feel sorry for myself when my good friend Jolene who lives across the street, was on her way home from a walk. She asked me where I was headed off to. "Oh just off to the bank! I can't find my keys and I need to get checks to pay the landscaper before they're done!" She of course came to my rescue and told me that she would take me! Oh my heavens was I so grateful for her in that very moment! I was worried I would get hit by a car or get kidnapped walking along Redwood road. Thank you Jolene for your kind service! Now if I could only find those keys......let's take bets. Do you think it was me that lost them or Scottie?? I will let you know. Until then I will be chilling at my house with nothing to do.

No Soliciting

The first thing I'm going to do when I move into my new house is install one of these pretty little babies...

...ok maybe not that extreme but, whether I paint it on my front door, hammer signs in my front yard, you name it, it must be done. I'm tired of being taken advantage of because I can't say no! Allow me to explain.
Two weeks ago I get a knock on my front door. As I went to open the door I knew I shouldn't have done it. Much to my surprise there was a particular person standing on my porch who started babbling off words in which I could not understand no matter how hard I tried, due to her southern ebonics or whatever you'd call it. She then began telling me that she could clean the wax from last years pumpkin fest, off my front porch with just a touch of her magic cleaning, non toxic, all natural, smells good, won't bleach, smear, whatever you name it formula. Just then she decided to prove to me just how out of this world this green potion is and then took a sip of it. What??? Well if that wasn't enough, she worked her way into my house by scrubbing the grout in my entryway. I guess because of the look on my face she could tell I still wasn't amused and decided to stick her hand in my toilet to scrub the hard water ring that has formed inside the bowl. Oh, did I mention that she then found a stain on my carpet and took it out too? By then she had worked her way into my kitchen and scrubbed my stove, sink, fridge, and toaster. Would you then feel bad for not buying the stuff? Ya, not only that but my conscience then started to kick in and I felt that if I were to deny her green magic potion then she would hold it against us Mormons! I finally gave in and bought the crap.
Two days later I'm home making dinner and I get ANOTHER knock at the door. This time it's some little high schooler who is selling cookie dough. But you'd be proud. I lied and said I had just bought some yesterday! Clever I know. I then shut the door being proud of my white lie but then guilty inside thinking that maybe he had some strange disease and I just shot down his one opportunity at life. Poor guy.
Then today I get, yes you guessed it, another knock on my door. This time it's someone trying to get donations for an anonymous source (I won't say). They then hand me a form and ask me if I'd like to donate one of the amounts listed. As I skimmed the list the minimum amount you could donate was...hold your horses....$2oo. Are ya kidding me? Bless these men that came to my house. I know it wasn't them asking for that much but I couldn't say no and wrote a check for don't worry...$10.
Now that I've vented I feel bad. I don't not want to help those in need but it's really getting out of hand. My husband has now labeled me the sucker that can't say no (haha). That's why I now feel as if I have officially joined the no soliciting club. Anyone want to join?

Testing anxiety...

For the past week I have been studying my brains out in order to prepare for this beautiful test I so easily forgot about, due to the wonderful summer break I'm experiencing. You see, since I teach FIRST grade, and I will now be approaching my fourth year of teaching, the time has come for me to renew my level one license to a level two license. Peace of cake right? How hard can a test be when all you teach is first grade? Well if your line of thinking is parallel with mine then you'd be astonished to find out that YOU'RE WRONG!! Like I said, I teach first grade but apparently I am suppose to be able to know and recall information that I never use and haven't even thought about since my early days in high school. For example....world history was one of the major topics of study. I was required to know all major and minor aspects of math, language arts, science and social studies/world history. And I'm talking EVERY SINGLE LITTLE PIECE OF HISTORY from the beginning of man kind. Practically dated back to Adam and Eve. Really people? The furthest I go in social studies in first grade is north, east, south and west! So, Friday night I went up to my parents house for a little one on one help from my dad. Now, let me tell you. My father should be the next Jeopardy contestant. This man in a fountain of knowledge!! Thanks to my dad and his wonderful love of history, he pretty much summed up my entire high school and elementary school curriculum combined in one night. That night I went to bed. I had my calculator, proof of ID, my admission ticket for the test, and three #2 pencils sharpened and ready to go. Since the test was at BYU in the testing center I was a little worried that I'd get lost and not be able to find the building, so my wonderful husband offered to wake up at 6:45 and drive me himself to the testing center and wait for two hours while I took the dreaded test (how sweet). As I walked inside I recognized a friend of mine from college who was in the same boat as me....only thing is that this was her FIFTH time taking the test in hopes that she would pass. Okay, so maybe it was just her but what you don't know is that I had talked to several other teachers who had to take it a minimum of three times just to pass? My hopes were diminishing by the second. After waiting in line for the testing center to seat us in the room, I finally approached the front of the line. As I handed her my ID, she then realized that it was expired! My drivers license had just barely expired by about a month. She was not going to let me in! Now, did I mention that I had to pay $150.00 to take this stupid test? I was getting through the doors whether she liked it or not. Another lady came along and pulled me aside. She asked me if I had any other form of ID. Of course I didn't because I was planning on getting in with my drivers license. Fortunately I had an old school ID, with my maiden name that was also expired but don't worry that for some reason it was more legit than my recently expired drivers license with my new name? Go figure.
After finally getting in and seated, they passed out the test. As I started I grew nervous knowing that if I didn't pass then I'd be back in this same boat taking it again. I started taking the test and by golly I felt like the most uneducated person in the world! Really? Could this test really be that hard? Did they really expect me to know all this crap!? I was screwed! Thank goodness for my father who had given me the crash coarse on world history the night before? It was the only stuff I knew! Finally I finished, just in time and rushed out to me my patiently waiting husband. On our way home he told me we had to stop and drop off the study book he had checked out for me from BYU. That's when I realized that we were no where near BYU and we were pulling in to Jamba Juice. It was so nice to finally be done with the test and enjoying a wonderful Aloha Pineapple delight. Thanks babe for all your support! Now I just have to wait four weeks to see how stupid I really am, when my test scores are finally mailed. Wish me luck! Good thing I have a second job.

Are You Hiring???

Since we have been back from Europe I knew I was going to have a lot of down time. Now don't get me wrong, I love having nothing to do...sometimes. But lets be realistic. When I have nothing to do I:

-eat
-watch pointless T.V.
-eat
-watch more pointless T.V.

Now, lets get back to the story. Lets go back to the year 2006 when I graduated from Southern Utah University and set off to find a real career. I remember interviewing for jobs and how badly I hated interviews. When I received news of my first REAL job I was so excited! Not only was I going to have a real job, but I thought my search for "lame jobs to get me through college" days were over. I would never have to work at Macey's as a checker, sell hair extensions to hair stylists, and tanning packages to the avid tanner..... That is until I realized that teachers get summers off? Now, I'm not complaining. Like I said I enjoy having nothing to do sometimes for a change and I'm grateful that my job allows me to do so (in the summer that is). But after a week of having nothing to do I got pretty board and the search for a job was lingering in the back of my mind. Sure, it would be nice to find something small to keep me busy and it wouldn't hurt to earn a little extra cash on the side. But then the thought of finding a desirable place to work, filling out applications and having to update my resume did not sound like a fun way to spend my summer. The next thing I knew was the thought of those dreaded interviews in which I thought I would never have to do again, popped into my head and I quickly rethought about getting a summer job at all. After all, I was going back to school in a month in a half anyway. It would be pointless to apply, interview, get hired, trained, and then put in my two weeks.....it didn't seem feasible. That's when I asked my mom if there was something I could do to help. She was planning my sisters wedding and seemed a little overwhelmed at the time. She asked me if I could go into Four Chairs and order her some footstools to go in the bathrooms. Of course I said yes and the next day I found myself at Four Chairs. At this point I had made up my mind that getting a job was out, I was ordering the stools and making conversation with the girl that was working and said....

Me: "So do you like working here? It looks like a fun place to work?"
Girl Working, jumps up and says: "Yes it is! Are you looking for a job!!"
Me: "Well, funny that you'd ask I guess I kind of am?"
Girl Working: "Do you have any interior design experience?"
Me: "Umm, nope?"
Girl Working: "Well, do you have any sales experience?"
Me:"Uh...sure?"
Girl Working: "Well It's okay, when I started here I didn't know anything, I can teach you."

That's when I said...

Me: "Well it would only be a summer job because I teach school?"

She then got a sad look on her face about the fact that I REALLY was not qualified for the position. This is when I became desperate and told her...

Me: "But I can work Saturdays?"
Girl working: "Let me get your name & number and I'll ask my manager if it would work and I'll call you."

At this point I was feeling a little, no WAY, under-qualified and and thought I would never get the job. In fact, my husband was laughing at the fact of how I was not helping the situation at all by saying "It's ok you don't have to hire me? I wouldn't be good at it anyway?" So to make this already long story short, she took my name and number and said she would talk to her manager. We left and I began to think about how ironic that they needed someone and how I needed something. How nice would it be if I got the job and didn't even have to hunt for one? About an hour later she called me and asked if I could come in on Monday for an interview. Of course I said yes and the next thing I knew I was freaking out because I HATE interviews! Well, monday rolled around sooner that I had hoped. I stressed about what to wear and even thought of appropriate responses to the typical interview questions. Boy was I shaky. I instantly convinced myself that if i didn't get the job I was not going to keep looking. In fact I would never step foot in there again so I wouldn't have to be embarrassed of the fact that I was rejected! Turns out after all that stressing I walked right in and had the most easy interview of my life! We talked about everything from girls camp to temple open houses and they didn't even ask me for a resume or work experience. She didn't even ask me any questions! I was loving life! About a week later, they called and offered me the job!
I was so happy that I didn't have to go store to store looking for one. And I am extremely excited that I will still get to work a little once school starts so that HOPEFULLY I can have a job next summer and bypass the whole "Are you hiring?" process all together. :-)

Finally Updated!

Finally I am officially updated! I haven't had my computer for the past two months and all my pictures were on it! I still have a few more pictures to add but I at least documented the important stuff! Anyway I'm glad that I didn't give up and finally posted about our wonderful past two months over several posts?

Hanging out with Chelc

Since Scottie has been gone, I've been quite lonely! It's a good thing I have my good friend Chelcie here to keep me comapany! She has pretty much moved in and I have enjoyed every second having her here! She is hilarious!I kind of feel like I'm back in college living with roommates but at the same time being married? Chelcie and I have also developed a love for Kix! My favorite it the new Honey Kix and wow they are delicious! In fact they are so delicious that we consume three boxes a day! Well, not really but it looks like it?

We also have a blast shopping at Walmart together and watching the Bachelor! Thanks Chelc for keeping me company while my Scottie is away!

Skiing at Brianhead

December 23rd, 2008

Every time we go down to see Scott's family in Glendale, Scottie and I have made a tradition to go skiing together at Brianbead. This ski trip however was quite interesting. When we were back home packing up our ski stuff to come down, Scottie had mentioned that he had grabbed my snow stuff for me. Ok... let me explain my thinking. My ski stuff when I last used it was altogether in the closet (coat, gloves, hat, etc). Well, my kind husband lent out some of my snow gear to his friend last time he went snow boarding without my knowledge. When he put it all back it wasn't altogether. So when Scottie told me that he had grabbed my snow stuff I was thinking that he had grabbed ALL of my snow gear. Half way down to Glendale I turned to Scottie and asked..."You did grab my coat right?" Of course his answer was "No" and I now was stuck with out a coat! Then I realized that my good friend Chelcie was going to come down and teach me how to snowboard because she's been wanting to teach me forever! And that way Scottie could have fun with his friend Jolley! Perfect I thought!! She can bring my coat! But there was one problem. If the weather was too bad Chelcie said she wouldn't come. Well the morning of our ski trip we woke up to more snow that I have ever seen! Thanks to the wonderful snow storm of all snow storms Chelcie was unable to attend our fun filled day at Brianhead and I was stuck without a coat. At this point I needed to find a coat fast! Scott's sister said she had a really warm coat I could borrow...but the sleeves were too short. So she gave me another coat of hers that was....a total mom coat (no offense Aud?) But I couldn't exactly picture myself skiing in this huge puffy blue coat down the hillside. That's when Jolley called and told us that his wife Liana wasn't going to make it because she had to work! PERFECT!!! I quickly told Scottie to call Jolley and ask him to bring me Liana's coat because I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb? He told me he would try to find something. At this point I was feeling better about the trip because I was no longer going to snowboard (I was kind of nervous anyway), I was going to ski. I also felt better knowing that I wouldn't have to wear the mom coat of all mom coats on the slopes. We hurried and got ready and left at 7:00 am to make it to Brianhead. I must admit that I didn't think we were going to make it with all the snow that had fallen the past two days. But then I remembered that I am married to the most determined man of all....Scott. Because the roads were so bad we knew that we weren't going to be able to drive through Cedar Canyon so we opted for a better (and longer) route and drive through Zions Canyon then through Hurricane and then up to Brianhead from I-15. As soon as we hopped in the car we were stuck and it took us a while to get out. Once we were off we had to go slow because the roads were so icey. As we turned off the road to go through Zions, the roads hadn't even been plowed!! I was freaked out of my mind in our little car. We started driving through a foot worth of snow on the road following the tracks of another car. I immediately thought of the movie I once saw about this couple that got stuck in the snow on their way to a funeral and had to get out and walk. Because they were out in the snow for so long their feet became frostbitten and had to have their toes amputated. I know I'm lame and always think of the worst possible situation but really! I hadn't seen anoyone else on the road! Not once!?!?! As we drove through Zion we eventually got behind a snow plow (thank heavens) . Scott grew up close to Zions so he was used to driving through it and he said he had never seen that much snow in Zions ever before. It was crazy but also a very scenic drive! When we finally reached I-15 I have never seen so many cars that had slide off the side of the road. It was crazy!! I couldn't believe we were actually that stupid to drive all the way through a mess just to go skiing! By the time we made it to Cedar to meet up with our friend Treavor Jolley, I quickly asked him if he had found a coat for me to wear! He ran back to his car and as he was running back to our car all I could see was bright turqoise and black? What the? Was that a football logo I saw on the back? First of all I am not the big of a football fan. Second of all if you are going to make me wear a football jacket to ski in it better not be a lame team like the Miami Dolphins? I'd rather wear the mom coat? Anyway needless to say that I ended up wearing the stupid thing and everywhere I went on the slopes everyone and anyone would comment about my stupid coat. I felt stupid being a fan of a team I didn't even care about. Even when I went to rent my skis, one of the workers offered me HIS coat. He probably felt bad for me? I wanted to take it so bad but I didn't want to start anything up with him haha.
After a few runs on the step above the bunny hill, Jolley said we should go on this other hill. He said it was just like the one that I had been skiing on, just longer. Sweet! So off we went up the slope. Half way up, I knew I had made a mistake. The lift was no longer going on an angle up the hill, but straight up! I was leveled with the trees! Scott was laughing so hard at my face! I really didn't think I was going to make it down alive! Finally after we reached the top, I had to face my fear! What I really wanted to do was clock Jolley and his stupid idea to go on this run and then catch a ride back down on the lift! Very slowly, with my short as possible skis to help me go slow, I made my way down the hill. I felt like a brand new skier in the midst of pros! Everyone must have thought I was nuts! Half way down I stopped to calm myself down. My legs WOULD NOT stop shaking! My knees were practically knocking! By the time I had made it down the hill I was so proud of myself for not rolling all the way down. When I stopped, I all of a sudden thought I was going to throw up! My head started spinning and my body got cold and clammy. Then I looked around me and was frightened at the thought of of throwing up in front of everyone on the fresh powder. I decided to take a break and head back to the car for an early lunch and warm up. I have never felt so dumb and embarrassed at my skiing abilities in my life! Hopefully I won't be as traumatized next year, and hopefully it won't be as cold! Go Dolphins! haha Oh ya, I also forgot to bring my camera to the slopes so thank goodness for no pictures.

So I'm quite frustrated at the moment? If you're asking yourself "Where are the Christmas photos like everyone else?" They are on the computer that is temporarily not working! So hang tight and maybe by Valentines I get it done!

Skipping Thanksgiving?

I have never been one to put up my Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. In years past I've always kind of felt bad for Thanksgiving! I feel that it often gets neglected and overlooked thanks to its neighboring holiday. But for some odd reason this year, I couldn't resist!

I have heard that this year there are five less days between Thanksgiving and Christmas... so that makes me feel better.
