Milestones

These past few weeks have flown by and when I take a minute to look back at them I realize that we have had some major milestones take place!!

Scottie and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on September 21, 2010!! I feel like I just got married to my man last year but It's crazy to think that we have actually spent the last 3 years (plus the dating days) together. It has gone by so fast! I love this man with all my heart! He really makes me so happy. I'm so blessed to know that we have eternity to spend together. There is no one else in this whole world that I'd rather be with. I love you babe!

Yesterday we celebrated Scott's 29th birthday. He freaks out a little to think that he is 29 but I love it. I love how he gets even more handsome with each year. Time has been very good to him :-) Our little girl will be lucky if she looks like her Daddy! Isn't he a head turner!!??? I love this picture!!

Another milestone we have seemed to encounter is this growing bump in my mid section and all the fun little things that come along with it! I remember the day we found out we were going to have a baby and it seemed like January was forever away! Now I look back and think, where did the time go????? We will have a family of three come January and we couldn't be more excited! Over the past little bit we have purchased a crib... (sorry for the small pics, they came from my phone)

painted her nursery...

...and are now the proud owners of a STROLLER!!! (Many thanks to Auntie Audrey)

For Scottie's birthday, his sister Audrey came up to visit us and she asked Scottie what he wanted for his birthday. He told her he wanted something for the babe :-) I think it's so sweet that he is so excited to be a Daddy to his future little girl and that he is already thinking of her before himself. I know that there are a million other things that he wants, but it was fun to walk into Babies R Us with his sister and to see him so excited to show her the stroller that we wanted. He quickly rolled it off the display to show her all the cool gadgets that it had and all the things it could do. He will definitely be the best Dad ever. I am so excited to see him with her. It's weird to see these things around our house and I know that these are just a drop in the bucket compared to everything else that will soon come, but I am loving each and every item that comes along and will gladly welcome the rest!

Belly by the Bay

Last night me and my Scottie went to Overstockober. Since it was the 12th birthday for Overstock (which is where Scottie works as the corporate accountant) we got to go celebrate at The Saltaire and listen to Plain White Tees. When we got there we were a little early so we had a gay ol time walking out to the lake and it was beautiful! The sun was just starting to set so we had our own little photo shoot! So here are some pics of me and the babe making the big debut. Oh and that other stud staring off into the distance is my handsome hubby :-)

Here she is at almost 27 weeks

and then hunger hit...

It was quite a walk as you can tell. The Saltaire could fit in the palm of my hand thanks to Scottie and his mean photography skillzzzz.

Afterwards we headed in and enjoyed a simply perfect show! They sounded better than they do on the radio???

Overall, it was a simply splendid night of entertainment. And I think our baby girl enjoyed it too by the likes of kicks I felt :-)

We're having a baby....

GIRL!!!!! And we couldn't be more excited!!!

Ok, so this post is about five weeks late but give me a break because my whole life gets put on hold when school starts up again. Sad I know. Anyway, when I first found out I was pregnant I instantly thought girl, but then later on down the road I started having all these dreams about a little boy! That totally threw me off so then I just assumed the little babe was going to be a boy! I even started picking out all these cute boy names because I was 100% convinced boy. Well, the big day of my 19 week appointment came and Scottie and I anxiously waited to find out what our little lamb would be (haha). As we were staring at the screen, the x-ray tech was slowly measured everything to make sure all was well and then she got to the good stuff! She then told us that she was going to start looking to see if it was a girl or a boy. When she started typing on the screen "It's a......GIRL!" I freaked out! I could not believe it! This little one totally tricked me! It was so fun to see her moving ALL OVER THE PLACE in my tummy! It then finally hit me that I was pregnant and that I was really going to have a baby soon. I hate to say it but all this time I have felt fantastic and can't complain about a single symptom because well, I haven't had any? This baby girl has definitely been good to her mama to be. After we found out what we were having, Scottie and I went to the store to buy pink and blue balloons. We wanted to announce it in a fun way so we hurried to find whatever we could write on in the car which happened to be the back of a bank deposit slip? On each slip of paper we wrote different things. For the blue balloons we wrote...

"Sexist Pig! Try again!"
"Sorry! Toilet seats stay down in our house!"
"Come on, like the world really needs another boy?"

Inside the pink balloons we put things such as:
"Feminist! But, you're right!"
"Of course I'm going to need a shopping buddy!"
"Looks like we have a built in babysitter!"

We invited the family over to my parents to announce the big news. We each had them pick a pink balloon if they thought it was a girl, and a blue if it was a boy.

My mama: Boy

My Dad: Girl

Mr. Linc's: Girl

Elliott: Boy

Ollie O's: Girl

Sinika: Boy

My Brother Adam: Boy

Then we had them pop the balloon to find out what the answer was!

We had a lot of fun sharing the big news and can't wait for her to arrive on her new due date (if she decides to really come then) which is now January 3rd, 2011. The doctor moved my due date up since I was measuring big....hello??? Both parents are over six foot what did you expect??? Scottie is excited since he now has a good chance of having a December 2010 baby instead of a January 2011 baby. Yes, he is an accountant so now you can see why he is so excited. He really wants that tax credit. haha
Right now I am..
-25 weeks along
-Feeling my baby girl move all day long! Scottie finally felt her move the other night. It was really fun :-) In fact the other day I looked at my belly and noticed that it was extremly lopsided. I felt all the pressure on one side and then I saw my belly totally move to the left and even out!! I loved it!
-Still fitting into my regular pants (yay!)
-Not really wanting to eat anything. In fact nothing sounds good but fruits, vegetables and fried egss with fresh tomatoes from the garden.
-The first person at my school to have a girl in the last 2 years (I think)
-Still shocked that the growing bump is really a babe and not firm fat haha
-Not as feisty as I used to be (thank goodness)
-Still not enjoying gum, it's too strong of a flavor for my liking
-Forgetting everything that I was going to do (wait I still remember everything that Scott doesn't, like: where his keys, wallet, watch and phone are)
-Grossed out at the sight of blood when watching CSI.....that was never an issue before???
-Extreme hair growth in the back of my head and very very very slow in the front. Yes...I have a mullet. Party in the front please!!!!! Not in the back?
-Enjoying when my old & new first graders come up to me and rub my belly to say hello to the babe :-) they are adorable!
-Still getting in a good run every now and then
-Still having a hard time picking out a name...any ideas are appreciated!
-Still picking out colors for the babe's room but hey, I finally decided on a crib?
Over all I feel great and couldn't be happier! I am one lucky, lucky girl :-)

Ok so I know you were hoping for pictures but my camera is dead, I'm a little too tired, and have no makeup on ha!! So I promised myself by the end of the week!

Best of Luck

The other day I was out and about getting things ready for school. I had to stop by my mamas house and while I was there she asked if I could run to the store for her. I of course don't mind running errands for my sweet mom who does so much for me so I willingly agreed. Well one thing I always admire when I go to my parents house is my former car. When I was single and stupid, I spontaneously bought an Acura TSX and LOOOOOOOOVED it. Well since I'm now married to an accountant, he explained to me that my car payment was too much for a newlywed couple to bare if we wanted to ever buy a house. So we sold it to my fabulous parents who wanted a run-around car. Hence the reason I dream of driving it when I visit. Well back to my story.....My mom asked me to run an errand and so I decided that I should splurge and relive my single days in the Acura. haha. So off I went on my merry way and ran the errand for my lovely mother. As I was about to back out of my parking spot, I being an expectant mother, turned to see if anyone was behind me. Of course there was this big black Toyota Sequoia that was driving down the lane looking for a place to park. After it passed I slowly backed out and as I was just about to put the car into drive to be on my merry way, I could see that this black sequoia decided that she would reverse to park in the spot she had driven past. I could see her barreling my way so I laid on my horn hopping she would clue in but apparently that didn't work until she crunched into the back of my former beautiful Acura......which is now owned by myparents.
It of course wasn't my fault but I was very annoyed at the Sequoia driver and how she tried to make it sound like I was the careless driver??? Hello? I would look behind me before I barrel down the lane going the wrong way and oh, I would buckle my kids in their seats so they weren't dancing around in the car, unlike you lady?? So tell me? Who do you think is responsible now? Anyway moving on....
Today (five days after the accident) my handsome husband was backing out of the Walmart parking lot when another careless driver who didn't find it important to look before backing out, ran into my husband.....who was driving my car.

After we cleared up that whole mess I finally made it out to the school where I mold young minds, and upon my arrival and excitment to finally be there and get lots done, I plug in my computer and hit the power button. I was very dissapointed when nothing happened. I thought maybe it was my cord so I borrowed one from another teacher hoping that it would work in this oh so busy time of year, and much to my surprise it didn't. Then I tried another outlet. Once again nothing. I was about to cry!! How on earth could my computer fail me now!! Not at this time of year! Anytime but now! Unfortunatly my school computer is shot and the tech guy won't be out till Wednesday. So until then I will be digging through the files in the back of my brain trying to recreate everything I have made over the past four years of teaching. I sure hope that we're on the up an up now. Wish me luck.

Girls Camp 2010

Back in March the bishopric came over to my house and wanted to meet with me and my husband. I was a little worried since we hadn't been in the ward too long. I knew I was going to be getting a calling, since Scott already had one, which I was fine with, but I was also nervous about what it would be. I had just assumed that I would be put in the primary or nursery like I always have been and I wasn't too excited about it. Since I teach school it seems like I'm always the "perfect candidate" for primary. Truth be told, I LOVE my job but I also enjoy my break from kids on the weekends. So when my bishop asked me to be Camp Director I was shocked!!! I was so excited to have something different for once but I was also very nervous since I'm obviously used to working with little kids. As time grew closer to camp I began to get worried that it wouldn't be fun and that I wouldn't like the girls or even worse, they wouldn't like me! Before I knew it, it was August 9th and camp was here. We went to Heber Valley Camp and it was amazing! My girls were so fun and I really enjoyed getting to know every single one of them. They taught me a lot and we laughed so hard!
Our ward theme this year was B.R.A.V.E. which stands for Becoming Righteous And Virtuous Examples. My girls were so funny at making sure "The Babe" was okay. They always made sure that I was "eating for two" and that I wasn't hungry or having to do any work. They also came up with a clever nick name for me "Crispy" which came from the Young Women's president's little boy calling me Crispy instead of Christie haha. Thanks girls for making my first girls camp experience (in ten years???) a fabulous one!

Climbing the Corporate Ladder

I am so excited for Scott! Recently we found out some great news!!! Here is why! a while ago Scottie was applying for jobs. One of them was the IRS. He started interviewing in January and was offered a position for the IRS starting in March. Problem was, he wasn't going to be done with school yet and would have to fly to California for training and and would have to finish his school work on the weekends. Let me remind you that this was his last semester in the masters program and I NEVER saw him anyway due to the amounts of homework and studying, so I was a little nervous about him leaving me and coming home on weekends to be up to his eyes in books. But it would only be for six weeks and he would have a job. After talking with his professors, they worked out a way for him to finish school and work at the same time. Problem was he would graduate with only C's which wouldn't look very good on a resume if he chose to leave the IRS. After much thought he turned the job down and began looking for other positions. Knowing that the IRS would be hiring 7 more people in July, he planned to reapply and start interviews in a few months. After looking elsewhere for jobs, we both were getting nervous. We didn't really want to leave Utah for a job since we had just bought at house. It seemed as if the only job postings were required to have 2-3 years experience. Not so great for someone who has just graduated. After a few more interviews with other places we only found out that most companies weren't going to be hiring at all due to budget issues. At this point we were getting worried but still had the hope that if he didn't find a job there was always the IRS as a back up plan. Well, one day Scottie was once again looking for jobs when he got a call from from KPMG (which is one of the big four accounting firms). Scottie had applied for this job knowing that they wanted 2-3 years experience. They wanted to call and interview him over the phone. The interview went well and he should be hearing back soon. In the mean time Scottie then had got a call from another job that he had applied for long ago. It was Overstock.com. He went in for an interview and told him that he would hear back by the next Friday. Well as luck would have it before he started hearing from all these companies, Scottie was nervous that he wouldn't find a job and so he started studying for the CPA exam which takes a year. The plan was to get a part time job and study his brains out then reapply later when he had his CPA. He found a part time job and on his last day of training he got an email from the IRS saying that they would not be hiring anyone. We were nervous that our job opportunities were slowing dwindling. Later in the day while Scottie was working he got a voicemail from Overstock.com telling him that he had the job and they wanted him to start right away. We felt so blessed since he had just received a job offer. Well he still had one other job that we were waiting for and since he needed to let Overstock know what he planned to do he called KPMG. They said that they really liked him and considered him for the job but there were other people working out of state for KMPG that wanted to transfer. Unfortunately they had priority over him so it looked as if Overstock was the right fit after all. We couldn't be happier since he LOVES his job as the new Corporate Accountant for Overstock.com and was able to start right away. Another blessing for me is that he will leave for work around 8:30 and he gets home around 6:00 which I was very happy about since if he worked for KPMG he would practically eat, sleep, drink KPMG. He would also work really late hours starting in January which I wasn't excited about since that's when the babe will be making the big debut. We are very happy and we are so glad that the job hunt is finally over! Congrats on the job babe I am so proud of you and all your hard work!! I Love you!

Mr. Paul Mcartney Himself

If you know me well, one thing you would know about me is that I am a HUGE Beatles fan! I was so excited when my dad told us that we were going to see PAUL MCARTNEY live!!! One thing's for sure is that this man can still rock it! He is sooo funny and has an accent I could listen to all day. He was AMAZING! He sang for three hours and even came back out twice for two encores!! I can now officially say that I have seen a real Beatle!! I can now cross that one of my bucket list and I can die a happy woman haha. Thanks mom and dad!!
