2 + 1 = 3!!!!

Well friends, it official!!! We just got back from my 12 week appointment and we got to hear the heartbeat of our little one for the first time! We are soooo excited and feel so blessed that we will have a new arrival coming January 11th, 2011 :-) We found on on Mother's Day which was so exciting, because we weren't really expecting it but were hoping to get pregnant soon! I made Scottie go get me some tests and I couldn't believe my eyes! There I was in the bathroom and when I saw the two lines I didn't know what to think? I started laughing! That's when Scottie said..."So....what did it say?" I told him I didn't think I was prego because one of the lines was lighter than the other. That's when Scottie grabbed the box and said "Well two lines, one light and one dark, is a positive!" I didn't know what to think! We couldn't believe it so I took another one just to be sure and once again, POSITIVE! We were so excited that we decided to tell our families right away. Since it was Mother's Day it was the perfect present to give to my mama. I gave her a card to tell her. The funny thing is that when I gave her the card I was so anxious for her to open it that I was trying so hard to keep a straight face! The whole fam was gathered round and when she pulled out the card, she read the front and then starting talking (for like 10 minutes) about how great of kids we are and yada yada yada..... Finally I said "Just open the card!!" That's when my sister Megs saw it before my mom could even read it and said "I KNEW IT!!!! I JUST KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO TELL HER YOU WERE PREGNANT ON MOTHER'S DAY!!!" haha thanks Meggers?? My mom was so excited!

Here we are with the card, being oh so cheesy about the news!

And me and my wonderful mother. I only hope I can be as wonderful a mother to our little one, as she is to me :-)

So finally my family knew and overall it was the greatest Mother's and Mother to be day!
Overall I am feeling great! I haven't been sick at all and I was only tired for about two weeks. My sniffer definitely smells everything but it doesn't make me nauseous. On the other hand, I always smelled everything so it really isn't that different. I was kind of nervous for our first appointment because I really don't feel any different at all. I was afraid the doctor would tell me "Honey? You're not prego?" I was so relieved to hear the heartbeat!

Now, happy late Father's Day to my oh so fabulous Dad! Thanks dad for being such an amazing Father. One of my favorite memories growing up was getting ready in the morning and smelling the yummy smorgasbord of a breakfast you were cooking up downstairs. You certainly are the best at making French toast, cheesy eggs, and cream of wheat. Oh, and don't forget the homemade waffles and pancakes made from cracked wheat, topped with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream. I definitely missed those breakfasts when I moved away to college. Not only because they were yummy, but because I got to spend breakfast with you every morning, and I knew that you loved me enough to wake up at the crack of dawn so that I could have a "real breakfast" because cold cereal just wasn't enough for your little athlete. I love you Daddy :-) Happy Father's Day!

I also wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my hubby since he will soon be a father to our little bean. I know that you will be the greatest Dad ever babe! I love watching you play with our niece and nephews. They just love playing "Buddy Alligators" with you. I love that you can entertain any child with any prop and you love doing it. Thanks for everything you do and putting up with my sniffer:) I love you to pieces and you are going to be one heck of a Daddy!!

Another Dryer Surprise.....

This morning I woke up to a strange sound. It sounded as if the sprinklers were hitting the rain gutter outside. After a while I drifted off to sleep again. When I woke up, I heard it again? This time I counted how many seconds there were in between. I counted 5 then 10 then 7. Strange I thought, because now it wasn't consistent. When I went into the bathroom I heard it again....but this time it was in the wall that is between the bathroom and laundry room. I decided that we may have a our first mouse. As I slowly opened the door to the laundry room I could see my cat just waiting to pounce and I knew right away I was right!!! But where??? I could hear it scratching and that's when I realized that it was in the dryer hose. Crap!!! Of course Scott wasn't home so I was left to fend for myself. I ran downstairs to tell Scott's family who were visiting. Thank goodness for my awesome nephew Justin or I don't know what I would have done.

We ran upstairs to diagnose the problem. We were totally confused as to how in the world the mouse had gotten into the dryer hose in the first place. First of all the dryer vent to the outside is at least twenty feet high. Second of all I know mice can squeeze in little crevices but come on!!! This vent was pretty little!! I was baffled. We decided that we would pull the hose out of the wall and put the opening in the garbage can. So here we are, I'm sitting on top of the washer and Justin has the oven mit on his hand ready to cover the hose to throw him into the garbage can. I shut the laundry room door and shoved a towel into the crack so the little sucker couldn't escape. When we were ready, Justin pulls off the hose and we get our first glipe of the creature in the dryer hose. It's not in the hose but stuck in opening in the wall. All I hear is Justin shouting "It's got huge black claws!!!" So now I'm thinking.....Crap we have a RAT!!! At this point Justin grabs the garbage can ready for the capture when all of a sudden, not a mouse but a BIRD flys out!!! It's flying all around and I'm screaming my head off thinking it's a flying rat slash bat or something? I grab the door and it flys out straight for the window and keeps running into it looking for an escape. Finally as it makes its way downstairs Scott walks in the door and opens the door and window so it can fly out. Don't ask me how he got in but I think he's learned his lesson.

Here is our little friend frantically trying to escape...

Now downstairs, our little friend is sitting on the window sill...

Scottie to the rescue...

Wow it was a crazy morning!

Before and After

Our yard is finally done and I could not be happier. I am excited about how it turned out and we are NO LONER the only house on the street with a dirt yard! Here are some before and after pics!

Because our lovely lot is on a steep hill we wanted to dig down along the house, take out the window wells and push the dirt back to make it level.

Before

They put in a four foot wall along the back and side of our yard to level it out...

In the front of our house, which is also a dirt hill, we did this...

I love how the stairs turned out!

We prepped it for a walkout basement which will come later.

put in some planter boxes!!! I'm so excited for my garden!

and put in a concrete pad on the side so you can have a place to park when you come to visit us!

Now we need to finish the house off with cement so we don't have the ugly tar look, oh well:-)

Yay!! We have a yard! Now I just want it to green up a bit and wait to two weeks so I can walk on it!

The Case of the Missing Keys...

A few weeks ago, my wonderful school secretary, the fabulous Kristy Tyson called and asked me if I would come and speak to her young women at girls camp. I agreed and up I went to Heber Valley Camp. It went great and it was a lot of fun and I was glad to have it over with because it had been stressing me out. When I got home I was so excited to just sit and do nothing because I was not longer stressed about this event. The second I got home I relaxed and didn't do anything but read a good book and put my feet up. Well the next day I went to find my keys and couldn't find them. The first thing I do when I can't find my keys is blame Scottie. Why? Well lets just say that that boy and keys go together like oil and water. He is always losing my keys. For example, back during the school year when I was teaching, if I happened to be running later than usual, people would always say "Did Scott lose your keys again???" So as you can see he has a reputation for losing my keys....wallet.....glasses......computer cords, etc. The next day, which is today, my husband left to study for the CPA exam and I was to go to the bank to get checks (since we are completely out) so we could pay the landscapers. As I continued the search for the missing keys, I came up empty. I looked.....
in every article of clothing Scottie and I own
In every drawer in the kitchen, family room, bedroom
in the fridge
under the couch
under the bed
under the car
in the car
under the couch cushions
in the pantry
in the freezer
in my purse (checked inside and out)
in the garage
in my bathroom
in the laundry room

You name it! I have looked everywhere! I only have one set of keys and the car is in the garage. I haven't driven it since the day I went up to Heber, so I know they have got to be somewhere!!! So while, I was looking for my keys I began to get stressed because the landscapers were almost done with our yard and they needed to be paid! Luckily I found one, scraggly little check in my old purse but the problem was I needed not one check but two checks!!! So here I am chatting on line with Scottie, because he doesn't get service in the bottom of the BYU library. I asked him if for some odd chance he would have them in his backpack. Of course he says no and says "I guess you could walk to the bank?" I of course laugh because there is no way I am going to walk to the bank. I continued my search and even asked my mom if for some reason they would be at her house? Again I was left without keys and my landscapers were wrapping up. I called my sister in law down the road to see if she could take me but she was in the middle of running a half marathon (Go SINI!) then I asked if my friend Joy wanted to walk. her other car broke down and her husband had the car so I figured I might as well have some company. Of course she had just left five minutes ago, IN HER CAR, to visit her old neighbors! I began thinking of other options. I felt too dumb to call my busy neighbors who all have several kids "Hey do you mind rounding up your kids, buckling them all in and taking me to the bank??" haha I don't think so? I could ride by bike which has a flat, I could put on my running gear and make a run for it...purse in hand, or I could just walk. So, I swallowed my pride, grabbed my purse and started the long walk to the bank. I was just starting to feel sorry for myself when my good friend Jolene who lives across the street, was on her way home from a walk. She asked me where I was headed off to. "Oh just off to the bank! I can't find my keys and I need to get checks to pay the landscaper before they're done!" She of course came to my rescue and told me that she would take me! Oh my heavens was I so grateful for her in that very moment! I was worried I would get hit by a car or get kidnapped walking along Redwood road. Thank you Jolene for your kind service! Now if I could only find those keys......let's take bets. Do you think it was me that lost them or Scottie?? I will let you know. Until then I will be chilling at my house with nothing to do.

Birthday Getaway

This year for my birthday, Scottie took me to Vegas to see The Lion King!!!! I was so excited to go because I've heard how amazing it is, and indeed it was! Here we are waiting for the show to start!

While we were there we stayed with my sister Amy. I haven't been to her new house since they moved back from Indiana so it was a lot of fun staying with her and hanging out with my cutest niece and nephew!

Ames and Collin, me and Kenz

Collin and Me, Scottie and Kenz

My niece, Kenzie, has got to be the funniest girl I have ever met! Last time they came up to see us she forgot her FAVORITE toy Jessie, from toy story. This little girl ADORES her! and that is an understatement, so you can imagine how devastated she was when she forgot him at Grammy's house ! So since we were headed down to Vegas, Grammy asked us if Jessie could hitch a ride with us. While were driving and getting close to Vegas, I sent Kenzie a text with this...

"I'm coming Kenz!!"

and she sent me one back with this.....

"YAY!! I've missed you Jessie!!"

She was so excited haha what a funny little girl! I loved hanging out with you guys! Thanks again Ames and Codes for being such wonderful hosts! And thanks Scottie for such a wonderful birthday present! I love you :-)
